Time Use by Italian CEO
This survey is the final part of the project that Fondazione Ing. Rodolfo Debenedetti has launched in 2008 to study the characteristics of Italian managers, the firms they work for and obtain a rich description of their incentives and activities.
We collected information on the time use by Italian CEO, in the form of day-by-day diary (from monday to friday, morning and afternoon). In particular CEO have described:
(1) The number of events and meetings and their duration.
(2) If the event was scheduled or not and if it occurs regularly.
(3) The number of internal and external (clients, suppliers, competitors, lawyers, bankers, politicians, etc.) participants at the event.
The final dataset contains information on 121 individuals (all Chief Executive Officers). As for the dataset on Italian Managers, the selection criteria followed the purpose of the study “Italian Managers: Fidelity or Performance?” by Bandiera, Guiso, Pratt and Sadun, which was presented at the X Fondazione Rodolfo DeBenedetti Conference, “The Ruling Class”, held in Gaeta in May 2008.
The administration of the survey was outsourced to Erminero & Co., an established survey firm located in Milan. The survey was carried out in October 2007.
