The XVII European Conference of the Fondazione Ing. Rodolfo Debenedetti will deal with health and safety at work.
Carlo De Benedetti (President fRDB) will open the conference with a brief welcome message. Giuliano Poletti (Italian Ministry for Labour and Social Policy) will also participate and introduce the topic of the conference.
During the morning session, Jan Van Ours (Tilburg University) will present the report “Temporary Jobs and Workplace Safety”, a joint work with Ali Palali (Tilburg University) and Matteo Picchio (Marche Polytechnic University). The study will focus on the relationship between temporary jobs and workplace safety as measured by workplace accidents. The report will be discussed by Rafael Lalive (University of Lausanne) and Knut Røed (Frisch Centre, Norway).
In the afternoon, Jérome Adda (Univerità Bocconi) will present the report “International trade and mortality”, coauthored with Yarine Fawaz (Universitat Autonoma de Barcellona). The study will focus on the causal effect of increased internationalization of trade on mortality. The report will be discussed by Bas van der Klaauw (VU University Amsterdam) and Italo Colantone (Università Bocconi).
The conference will end with a panel discussion with invited experts:
- Bruno Anastasia (Veneto Lavoro)
- Tito Boeri (President Italian Social Security)
- Elio Borgonovi (President CERGAS, Università Bocconi)
- Eve Caroli (Universitè Paris – Dauphine)
The conference will be held in English, while the final panel will be in Italian. In both cases, a simultaneous translation service Italian/English will be provided.
