Limone sul Garda
The IX fRDB European Conference opened with two opening addresses, the first one by Franceschino Risatti, Mayor of Limone sul Garda, the second one by Carlo De Benedetti, President of the Fondazione Ing. Rodolfo Debenedetti.
The first talk of the conference was on the topic “Health Expenditure, Longevity and Growth“ by the group made up of Brigitte Dormont (Université Paris-Dauphine, France and IEMS, Lausanne), Joaquim Oliveira (OECD, France), Florian Pelgrin (Université de Lausanne, Switzerland) and Marc Suhrcke (World Health Organization, Italy). The report was discussed by Axel Börsch-Supan (Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging, Germany) and Vincenzo Galasso (Bocconi University and IGIER). The debate was moderated by Pietro Garibaldi (Fondazione RDB, University of Turin and Collegio Carlo Alberto).
The second report, entitled “Ageing and Productivity“, was written by Pekka Ilmakunnas (Helsinki School of Economics, Finland), Jan van Ours (Tilburg University, The Netherlands), Vegard Skirbekk (IIASA-Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Austria), and Matthias Weiss (Mannheim Research Institute for the Economics of Aging, University of Mannheim, Germany). It was discussed by Enrico Moretti (University of Berkeley, California) and Etienne Wasmer (Sciences Po, Paris). Tito Boeri (Fondazione RDB and Bocconi University) acted as chairman.
Elsa Fornero (CeRP and University of Turin), Pier Carlo Padoan (Deputy Secretary General, OECD) and Nicola Sartor (Undersecretary, Ministry of the Economy and Finance) attended the final round table discussion.
