The book that collects the reports of the IX European Conference has been recently published by Oxford University Press with the title “Ageing, Health and Productivity. The Economics of Increased Life Expectancy”. The Conference was held in Limone sul Garda in May 2007. This original contribution, which highlights the strong link between ageing and productivity, deepens hot and interesting topics such as the increase in life expectancy and the related opportunty for economc growth, both from the macroeconomics and the microeconomics perspective.The book has been edited by Pietro Garibaldi, Joaquim Oliveira Martins and Jan van Ours. Brigitte Dormont, Florian Pelgrin and Marc Suhrcke, together with Joaquim Oliveira Martins, are the authors of the first report on “Health Expenditure, Longevity and Growth”. Pekka Ilmakunnas, Vegard Skirbekk and Matthias Weiss, together with Jan van Ours, are the authors of the second report on “Ageing and Productivity”. Axel Börsch-Supan, Vincenzo Galasso, Enrico Moretti and Etienne Wasmer discuss their contributions.
