Un mondo di differenze. Combattere la povertà negli Stati Uniti e in Europa
Alberto Alesina and Edward L. Glaeser
In the United States, the national policies of income distribution from poor to rich people are much more limited than in Western Continental Europe. Both the Unites States and Europe are democratic societies. They have common cultural and religious roots. They are rich societies. Why does Europe has developed such a different attitude from US regarding social and redistribution policies?
On the 20th November Professor Alberto Alesina (Harvard University) held the Second Ing. Rodolfo Debenedetti Lecture entitled “The Welfare State in the US and Europe: Why so Different?“. The Lecture has been published in the book “Fighting Poverty in the US and Europe“, by Alberto Alesina and Edward Glaeser, edited by Oxford University Press.
This book is the Italian version, entitled “Un mondo di differenze. Combattere la povertà negli Stati Uniti e in Europa”, edited by Editori Laterza.
