VI European Conference
Palazzo dei Celestini, Lecce
The Sixth Conference focused on "Structural Reforms without Prejudices". The discussion was based on two reports, prepared by two teams of experts, under the supervision of the Fondazione. The first group took stock of structural reforms in different industries and countries, trying to assess whether they really had a significant impact on the rest of the economy. The group was co-ordinated by Riccardo Faini (University of Rome "Tor Vergata"), together with Jonathan Haskel (University College London), Giorgio Navaretti (University of Milano), Carlo Scarpa (University of Brescia) and Christian Wey (DIW - Berlin).
The second team studied the political constraints facing the implementation of structural reforms and way to "cheat" the policy trade-offs. The co-ordinators of this group were Michael Castanheira (Ecares, Brussels) and Vincenzo Galasso (Bocconi University and Igier), together with Stéphane Carcillo (Forecasting and Economic Analysis Directorate, French Ministry of Finance), Enrico Perotti (University of Amsterdam), Giuseppe Nicoletti (OECD), and Lidia Tsyganok (Ecares, Brussels).
The proceedings of the conference had been collected in a volume published by Oxford University Press.
