In the first part of the one-day workshop we discussed empirical evidence drawn from a recent survey of migrants in Italy carried out between October 2009 and May 2010. The aim of the project was to collect data on loss of human capital for the countries of origin and on the assimilation of human capital in the host country. The survey was a joint initiative of EBRD (European Bank for Reconstruction and Development), fRDB, Carlo Erminero&Co (the survey company) and Fondazione Alma Mater (for the second round interviews) . The afternoon session focused on immigrants' assimilation in the host countries.
